Can we talk?  Can we be blatantly honest with each other?  Great!   Where to begin….how about with the truth and the facts!  The truth is sometimes life really REALLY sucks!  The fact is that NO one gets through this life without experiencing disappointment, trauma, trials and tribulations.  That is a fact!   The fact is unless you understand and embrace the truth about life you will never find the peace and happiness you are searching for.

Unfortunately this past week I had to attend a wake and funeral.  I cannot even explain to you in words how moved I was by the entire experience.  I have never seen so many people at a wake (the wait to get in was over an hour and the line of people seemed endless)!  As I stood there watching all the people coming in I couldn’t help but think how wonderful it was that this person had touched the lives of so many people!  The next day at the funeral one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed happened.   One of the family members read a letter the man who passed had written to his family. The letter was basically reminding the family to stick together, to support each other through this difficult time, to continue to love each other and the most important part of the message… to remember to move on and be happy!  I have spent years communicating with those who have passed.  I am continually passing that very message on to those who are grieving but to have someone write those words before their passing was beyond moving!

I came home that day beyond inspired, touched and moved in a way that I cannot describe.  I started to think about all of the ridiculous things I worry about during my day, the people I allow to upset me and the meaningless things that cause my stress.  I also couldn’t help but wonder how many other people truly “get it”.  This man CLEARLY “got it”!  He touched the lives of so many people!  He wasn’t famous or a billionaire. He was just like you and me.  But somewhere in his life he chose to make a difference one person at a time!

In the beginning of this article I said, “The fact is unless you understand and embrace the truth about life you will never find peace and happiness”.  What I meant by that is until you are ready to accept that life is NOT perfect, until you are ready to STOP focusing on all the bad in your life and instead focus on the good, until you are truly ready to let go of the trauma and drama you will never find the peace and happiness you are searching for!

The TRUTH is at the end of the day the best gift you can give to someone is your time and your love!  The fact is that when all is said and done, it will be the memories you created with the people around you that will forever remain, even after you are long gone.  The truth is if someone is not treating you right they do not deserve your time.  The truth is life is too damn short to be wasting time with people you don’t like, doing things you don’t want and waiting for tomorrow to hopefully get better.  You have today!  You have right now!  You have the free will to choose to understand the truth about life!
