While I don’t claim to be an expert in anything, I have been using and love my essential oils.  Here are a list of the ones I think everyone should have in their home….

My Personal Favorites

Bergamont

This is a GREAT oil to get rid of those blues!  A great oil for those who suffer from depression or feel they are in a funk.

You can also use Chamomile, Patchouli or Ylang Ylang.

Bergamont also used for fevers, acne, tension, wounds, coughs, stress

Eucalyptus

If you have allergies or respitory problems, you need to have eucalyptus in your home.  This is amazing for all breathing problems, stuffy head, nose, etc…

Eucalyptus also used for viral infections, colds, coughs, bronchitis, whooping cough, rheumatism, and as antiseptic

Lavendar

This is one of my most favorite oils.  It is not only great for relaxation but it is great for your skin (rashes or skin irritations).

Lavendar also used for burns, cuts, wounds, eczema, dermatitis, fainting, headaches, influenza, insomnia, hysteria, migraine, nausea, nervous tension, infections, bacterial conditions, sores, ulcers, acne, boiols, asthma, rheumatisim, arthritis

Did I not tell you it was my favorite!

Peppermint

I call this the wake me up oil.  It is also great for nauseasness, indigestion and stomach aches.  Ladies it is also great for menstrul cramps…just simply rub it on your stomach.

Peppermint also used for inflamation, fevers, flatulence, headaches, migrane, liver problems, arthritis

Rosemary

I personally use this oil a lot for people who have some kind of skin infection or for people who are diabetic.  This makes a great foot bath and keeps the circulation in the feet going.

Rosemary also good for gout, headaches, fatigue, rheumatism, skin infections, muscular aches and pains, sprains, dandruff, alopecia, obesity, spinal injuries, as a nerve stimulant, heart tonic, liver decongestant

Tea Tree

This is my second favorit oil.  As a posion ivy sufferer it is my best friend in the summer months.  I also use it a LOT for cuts and bruises.  And if I feel I am getting sick I sprinkle a few drops on my spine before I get in the shower.  When I get a sore throat I gargel with it.

Tea Tree also used for fungal infections, viral and bacterial infections, colds, influenza, cold sores, warts, inflammation, acne, burns, candida, shock, hysteria

How to use them:

I would strongly suggest you get yourself and essential oil book.  One of my favorites is called “The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy”  written by Valerie Ann Worwood.

Breathe them in:

You can rub them on your palms and breathe them in.

You can place a few drops on the bottom of your shower, turn on the hot water and let the room fill with steam (be sure to adjust the water temperature before getting in)…this makes a great aromatherapy session.

For skin conditions:

Most of these oils can be placed directly on the skin or mixed in a hand cream (always do a test spot when using a new oil to check for allergic reaction).

Baths:

When you are sick there is nothing better than a nice detoxing salt bath with a blend of your favorite oils!  Try it!  You will thank me later!
