Stop shaking your Magic 8 Ball, put away your tea leaves and stash the tarot cards. We really wanted to know what 2006 has in store for us, so we turned to local psychics to find out. Their visions? An improved economy. Political scandals. More natural disasters. Downtown renewal in Liberty. That’s great, but what about those winning Lotto numbers?

“Even-number years are always kinder than odd. I think the economy will even out and house prices will level out.” – Lisa Stewart, The Awareness Shop in New Paltz.

“It will be a beautiful year with a lot of peace.” – Gloria Franclo, Monticello.

“I think we will have another minor terrorist incident, more out on the West Coast. It will have something to do with the water or a bridge.” – Shyla O’Shea, The Awareness Shop in New Paltz.

“Some person who is important in the economy will get in trouble because of a personal scandal. As a result the economy will be shaken.”
– Rachel Pollack, Rhinebeck.

“Home prices will be coming down.  In the next year or so. The United States will pull out of the war in Iraq.  In the next 3 -5 years, Sullivan County will have a housing spurt which will put it on par with Orange County. – Lisa Ann of Spiritquest in Slate Hill

“I think one of the major landlords in Liberty who owns a lot of the buildings in the downtown area will leave. This will lead to a lot of construction, demolition and renovation to some of the buildings downtown and will bring more traffic to the area.” – Paula Forester, co-owner of The Broomstick in Liberty.

“I see a movement to draft Hillary Clinton for president. I also see a backlash against the Bush administration. There is going to be a series of corruptions within the Bush administration and someone is going to go to jail. It’s going to be something big like Watergate.” – Michael Charlena, Goshen.
“Natural disasters are going to continue for several years because Mother Nature has pretty much had it with our toxic dumping and hatred.” – Carol Bulzone, co-owner of The Broomstick in Liberty.
