How my new town FOUND ME!

Last month I promised to share the story of how I ended up in Calabash NC so here it goes. I started searching for a new home in the North Myrtle Beach area last year. My goal was to be relocated by this summer. I would spend a couple of hours every week searching out homes on several different online sites. I was trying to familiarize myself with the different areas and developments. Every time I did a search for North Myrtle Beach a place in Calabash, NC would appear on the list. After months of this I decided to google Calabash (as I do not think anything is a coincidence). I LOVED what I read about the town and decided to expanded my search to that area. I TRUSTED the sign I was apparently getting and I followed my intuition even though I knew NO ONE in that area.

In January I was planning to take a trip to South Carolina to start my search in person. While searching the web for possible homes I came across a particular listing. It wasn’t so much the property that caught my eye as the picture of the husband and wife team who owned the Real Estate Office. I remember thinking “they seem like super sweet people who will work with me and understand the challenges I have as a result of the disastrous situation with my current home”. I called the office and got the owner who was beyond warm and friendly. Unfortunately I had to cancel the trip and put my plans on hold (as it is all about timing and apparently the Universe did not agree with the timing of my trip).

The month before I left for SC I was working non-stop. I had private sessions, several classes a week, reading parties and other events. It seemed like everywhere I went someone would ask me where I would be looking for my new home.  My response was always Little River SC, North Myrtle Beach SC and Calabash NC. Much to my amazement, every time I said that, someone knew someone who lived in Calabash NC! I took this as a definite sign that I was absolutely going in the right direction!

The time had come! It was time to get my butt to SC/NC and find my new place. I will spare you every detail of my week long search. I will only say by day four I was losing all hope of finding what I was looking for. BUT on day five everything would change. Not only did I find my dream home in Calabash NC but I ended up getting it through the exact Realtor that I was so drawn to months before! AND talk about amazing….I had been having dreams for about a year about my new house.  The only thing I could ever see was the kitchen.  It was always the same scene.  I was standing by a kitchen sink with no window and the walls were blue (not a color I normally like).  Of course you already know what I am going to say….lol!  Yes, my kitchen is blue and there is no window by the sink!

I have now been here less then a month and I am 100% sure that I have landed exactly where I am suppose to be!  The place, the people, the energy….all of it is amazing!  And that is the story of how I ended up in the beautiful town of Calabash NC!

On a side note I just want to say that this has been a very long journey. I did not just wake up one day and decide I am moving. I made a decision, set a plan in motion, worked my ass off to make it happen and waited patiently (okay maybe not so patiently) for the right time. There had been overwhelming fear, many doubts and more tears then I can count along the way.  I TRULY believe with every fiber of my being that life is not always easy but we do have choices. Change is scary but we can work through it. Trusting your intuition doesn’t come without sometimes questioning yourself but you can do it. Not everyone will support your dreams but the only person who truly needs to believe in you is YOU! And at the end of it all the most valuable part of the lesson…..Dreams do come true! I hope my life can somehow be an inspiration to you….I hope you will read this and think….”heck if she can do it so can I”.

    Hi Lisa Ann,

I have to tell you, I have enjoyed listening to your story through FB, your website and our friend, Donna. She mentioned that you had a “hunch” about me finding a job the 3rd week of May. You told her to tell me to wait…. I had several other things brewing. But, guess what, the 3rd week of May I got a job offer from the largest non-profit in the Philly/Delaware Valley. So far, it has been amazing…. and, my social life has picked up, too.

Your positive energy and true belief in the universe has always inspired me! Thanks so much for being a part of my life.

ENJOY CALABASH! I love that part of the Carolinas! Played golf their many times.

    Love from Philly,
    T

    Welcome to NC Lisa Ann!
As a fellow New Yorker who grew up in the same vicinity as you, there is something about the energy in No. Carolina that drew me here years ago. I first visited NC in the 70s and knew that someday I’d be living here. In a roundabout way, that wish came true years later and from the beginning felt like I found my real home.
I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy your new surroundings!
