Yeaph it’s February! We all know what that means.  It is time for all the romantic commercials, a dozen roses selling for double maybe even triple what they would be in January, stores stocked with heart shaped boxes of chocolates and “couples” dinner specials offered for much more than any other day.  I call it “the curse of cupid”! Do I sound a little bitter?

Listen I am all for love.  What I am not for is the commercialization of something that we should be celebrating everyday!  So let’s be clear.  I love, LOVE!  I am all for it!  In fact I absolutely believe you should and NEED to tell the people you care about that you “love them” every chance you get!  Everyday I hear stories from people who had no idea that was going to be the last time they were going to see someone they loved.  WOW!  Doesn’t that put things into perspective.

So now are you understanding why I find this holiday so frustrating?  Should we really
need a “day” to tell people how we feel?  Should that day just be about couples?  Wouldn’t it be so wonderful to live in a world where we actually expressed our love and gratitude for those around us on a daily basis?  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you never had to ask or wonder how those close to you felt about you?  Wouldn’t it be great if you knew how loved and appreciated you were cause those around you told you each and everyday?  Take a moment to digest that…..

This year one of my personal goals is to make sure those closest to me and those who are truly important in my life, know exactly how much I love and appreciate them.  I admit in the past I have allowed myself to get very caught up in the drama of my life and have sometimes forgotten to say “thank you” to those who are always by my side.  I have worked very hard to disconnect from life’s drama.  I have done a LOT of self-evaluating and I no longer allow the drama of life to interfere with my enjoyment of life!  Yes, it took a LOT of work to get to the space and it takes even more work to stay in that space.  However I have to tell you it is a fabulous space to be in!

I invite you all to join me in breaking the “cupid curse”!  I invite you all to not wait for one day a year to express your love and appreciation to those who are so meaningful to you.  Instead I challenge you to make sure you tell those who mean the most how much you love them every time you speak to them! Of course don’t forget to show yourself some love as well!  Be sure to do something special for yourself every now and again.  Be sure to be appreciative of how amazingly wonderful you are as well!

While I am on the topic…..I want to thank all of you for making my job so meaningful and enjoyable!  I appreciate all of you who have supported me for so many years!  I love you all!
