Recently I went through a little bump in the road.  Okay so it was more like plummeting off a cliff.  I remember saying to a therapist I know, “I am so angry and hurt what am I suppose to do with all of it”.  See looked at me and said, “You do nothing with it, you just allow yourself to feel it”.  WOW!  What a concept!

In that moment I realized that it is human nature to constantly try to fast forward past the stuff that causes pain and discomfort in our lives.  Now is the craziest time most of us have seen since the great depression.  So many people are anxious and trying to fast forward to a better place.  But the truth is in order to spring ahead you need to first stand still.  Sometimes you just need to stay in the discomfort and know that you will be okay.  Sometimes you need to allow yourself to feel the fear, anger and hurt while knowing “this too shall pass”.

The truth is you can truly feel peace when you have none around you.  You can enjoy serenity in times of incredible stress and anxiety.  And I have personally experienced over and over again that …it is not what is happening to or around us that defines us.  We truly create our lives but sometimes you need to let go to make room for the new and for many that is a very tough thing!

So this month as we prepare for a much needed spring filled with hope and new beginnings I ask you, “Are You Standing Still?”  Try it!  Be in the moment no matter how happy or sad that is and know you are okay! Don’t try to change it or fast forward…just be in the present!
