Recently I decided to take on the task of redoing my kitchen with the free time I had this past holiday weekend.

Here is what I learned:
1. To spite the ridiculous cost of a sink and the additional cost for a faucet (even crazier!) sinks do not come with drains!  Trip 2 to Home Depot!

2. When you pull out your refrigerator, don’t yank hard otherwise you wil break the little copper tubing that goes to your ice maker (and let me tell you, you won’t believe the water that shoots out of there).  Trip 3 to Home Depot!

3. Inspite of what you see on those home shows you CAN NOT repaint all your cabinets in one day….the gripper needs time to dry (ps…unlike paint …gripper does not wash off your hands, face, feet or out of your hair)!

4.  Check all hardware you purchase, regardless of how organized the bins look…everything in there is NOT the same.  Trip 4 to Home Depot!

5.  When you are under the sink and have removed the drain DO NOT ask your child to move the dishes to the other side (just incase you are not following-when they dump the water from the dishes it lands on your FACE!)

6.  When you decide to go overboard and add hardware to your draws (for you lay people hardware means knobs, handles, and hinges)….bring one with you, cause when you get to the store they all look similar.  Trip 5 to Home Depot!

7. Don’t be lazy…take the time to take the glasses out of the way.  Glass shatters everywhere when it hits tile and it is nearly impossible to remove that tiny little piece from your foot!

8.  If you can’t find your drill GO BUY one…..using a regular screw driver leaves nasty blisters!

9. When looking for parts don’t believe anything the sales people tell you “can be used instead”!  Trip 6 to Home Depot!

10.  If you are not finding this humorous, take my advice, don’t EVER take on a home project!  The most important thing I learned…..planning, tools, determination are all important…but the MOST important thing is your sense of humor!  Hope you had a good laugh.

Moral of the story:  You can do anything you put your mind to, with a little patience and a great sense of humor!

By the way the kitchen looks great!
