I was 14 yrs old and my father received a new chair for Christmas. He LOVED it and enjoyed this chair for many years. Not sure if it was the chair itself of the story I am telling you. It was a light tan color made from leather and Naugahyde.. well the conversation went like this

Me: What is Naugahyde Dad??
Dad: You DON’T know ??
Me: Nope, no idea
Dad: Well it comes from Nauga’s
Me: Really???
Dad: You never saw one ??
Me: No, what do they look like ??
Dad: Well, they are a cross between an elephant and a rhino
Me: Really, what color are they ??
Dad: Well, they can be black to light gray -even tan to dark brown, but white is rare. I can’t believe
you never saw one at the zoo!! You must have seen one , they are HUGE
Me: I really don”t remember seeing one… I will have to look next time I go to the zoo ..
Dad: Well, tell me all about it when you finally do see one …

Well, I believed this story for years, no I am not kidding. He laughs himself to tears every time he tells it..and attempted to bring nauga’s to life in my children’s world but they didn”t buy it. A real example of my naive personality …. so the next time you go to the zoo take a look for my Nauga’s….you will probably find them next to the BULL !! Or maybe you will think of me the next time you go furniture shopping..
